Orphan Asylums, Orphan Trains, and Urban Resets - Orphan Train Series 6 From the mid-19th to the early 20th century, the number of Orphan Asylums and insane asylums experienced explosive growth, soaring from dozens to a thousand across the US. After a period of placement, some of children were sent on orphan trains to various cities, stopping in empty (Tataria) towns recently ravaged by fire, where they were adopted or placed. This appears to be a population reset plan for cities. A coincidence? Furthermore, many of these orphanages were controlled by churches and were mostly historic Tataria buildings. Similarly, there were hundreds of church-run Orphan Asylums throughout China. A coincidence?
